The Fort Lauderdale Community Development Corporation (FLCDC) was formed in 1988. This 501(c) 3 non-profit organization’s mission is to “be the community economic development catalyst for Fort Lauderdale’s low and moderate-income residents”targeting the northwest section of Fort Lauderdale. The FLCDC strives to increase access to affordable housing, identify and implement economic development, alleviate poverty, and be an advocate for the residents of this targeted area.

Meet and Greet

The 2023 Fort Lauderdale Community Development Corporation meet and greet was held on Monday October 9th, 2023 at 7 p.m. It was a good time for all in attendance. The meet and greet gave the board members and residents an opportunity to get to know each other and share refreshments.

STORIES OF SISTRUNK

Much like Joseph’s coat of many colors, so is the beloved Sistrunk Boulevard, a unique corridor, once a blend of black doctors and dentists, grocery stores, record shops, restaurants and an assortment of black owned businesses from as early as the 1940’s. The historical Sistrunk thoroughfare, initially one lane headed west and one lane headed east, was and to date the heart and soul of the northwest Fort Lauderdale community, a masterfully stitched tapestry of black ownership, legacy and success.
